Description
RNA cytidine acetyltransferase with specificity toward both 18S rRNA and tRNAs. Catalyzes the formation of N(4)-acetylcytidine (ac4C) in 18S rRNA. Required for early nucleolar cleavages of precursor rRNA at sites A0, A1 and A2 during 18S rRNA synthesis. Catalyzes the formation of ac4C in serine and leucine tRNAs. Requires a tRNA-binding adapter protein for full tRNA acetyltransferase activity but not for 18S rRNA acetylation.

PcG proteins act by forming multiprotein complexes, which are required to maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of homeotic genes throughout development. Subunit
Component of the PRC1 complex (PSC, PC, PH and dRING1) in 0-12 hours Drosophila embryos. This complex is distinct from the Esc/E(z) complex, which contains many other PcG proteins like Esc, E(z), Su(z)12, Rpd3, Caf1 and probably Pho. The two complexes however cooperate and interact together during the first 3 hours of development to establish PcG silencing.
